AGE and KCGS have organized a high consultation meeting “Security of Women in Work Place”

The Agency for Gender Equality within the Office of Prime Minister of Republic Kosovo in cooperation with Kosovo Center for Gender Studies have organized today a ninth high consultation high meeting in the raw with subject “Security of Women in Work Place”

In the opening of meeting, the Executive Director of Agency for gender Equality- Edi Gusia stressed the importance of women in work place is one of most important issues for sustainable development of country. She evaluated this meeting as a valuable tradition of cooperation between AGE and Kosovo Center for Gender Studies, which proves the commitment of Government of Kosovo to cooperate with organizations of civil society who contribute in advancement of position of woman in society “Non adequate inclusion of women in labor market is not only the issue of equality, but a serious obstacle for sustainable economic development of the country, where half of social potential remain unused” stressed Gusia, by adding that main challenge for women in labor market are linked with lack of institutions of care towards children, lack of security and gender discrimination.  

While, the Executive Director of Kosovo Center for Gender Studies- Luljeta Demolli expressed that this consultation meeting organized is ninth year in the raw, proves the continuance of cooperation approach between the institutional and partner organizations to empower women rights “This cooperation is a good example as how we should move forward in the work and our feminist engagement. This year, in 25 year of resolution 1325 for peace and Security we should reflect over the challenges that women are facing every day in work place, including in-security and lack of adequate protection” said Demolli.

With occasional speech in the conference spoke Mr. Aleksandro Bjancho, Deputy Chief of the Office of European Union in Kosovo and Mrs. Vlora Tuzi-Nushi, Chief of UN Women in Kosovo. They stressed the importance of execution of European standards for gender equality and protection at work as well as support of international partners for economic empowerment of women in Kosovo.

The, a panel discussion was organized with participation of:

  • Mrs. Dafina Gexha-Bunjaku, D. Minister of health,
  • Mr. Rizah Plakolli, Acting Executive Director of Central Inspectorate of Labor.
  • Mr. Lum Vranica, Acting at the Department of Inspection Methodology, Office of General Inspector.
  • Mrs. Nermin Mahmuti, Executive Director of CDF,
  • Mrs. Majlinda Sinani- Lulaj, Deputy Ombudsperson, and
  • Mrs. Hera Luma, Manager of the project “The Labor Rights for all”, ATRC.
